USPHL Premier 2023-24 South Region Players Of The Week

Southeast Division

Forward: Siamion Marshchanok, Potomac Patriots

Marshchanok (‘05/Minsk, Belarus) has moved up to the top five in all-time best USPHL Premier seasons after scoring a goal and adding five assists for six points in his last two games. He now has 112 points, and has become the second player (after Fresno’s Noak Persson, the all-time leader with 147 points) to break the all-time top five for single season scoring. 

 

Defense: Ethan Rubin, Carolina Jr. Hurricanes

Rubin (‘03/Long Grove, Ill.) helped the Jr. Canes take a victory against the Hampton Roads Whalers, by putting up two assists. One of those was on Jacob Gifford’s OT game-winner. He also added an assist against Potomac the next night in a loss. The two-year Premier blueliner has put up 14 points in 32 games this year, improving upon the four points he registered in 31 contests last year. Including Midget seasons, Rubin is a four-year USPHL veteran. 

 

Goaltender: Josh Kirton, Potomac Patriots 

Kirton (‘03/London, Ont.) won both of the Patriots games during their series against Hampton Roads and Carolina. He stopped 44 of 48 shots during the weekend as the Patriots were able to maintain a hold on first place in the Southeast Division. Kirton now is 4-0 on the season with a .934 record for this season. His two-year record is 9-1-0-0 for the Patriots. 

 

Florida Division
Forward: Dario Zitko, Florida Eels

Zitko (‘03/Port Moody, B.C.) scored a pair of goals and added four assists for six points during their weekend series against the Jr. Blades and their additional game against Tampa Bay. Adding in two more assists after the scope of this week’s awards, he has four straight two-point games. He was a co-leader for the Eels in plus-minus at +3 in the Tampa and Jr. Blades games. Zitko now has 28 points in 41 games for the Eels. 

 

Defense: Brinson White, Florida Jr. Blades

White (‘06/Media, Pa.) put up big performances for both the Premier and Elite Jr. Blades last weekend. He had two assists in the Premier games of Feb. 14 and 17, and then added one more assist in the Elite game of Feb. 18. For the Premier squad, he led the team in plus-minus with a +3 and was one of only three plus players. His eight blocked shots co-led the Premier team despite playing two of the three games. He has three assists in 12 Premier games and 14 assists in 27 Elite contests in his second season at that level. 

 

Goaltender: Tresor Wotton, Florida Eels

Wotton (‘03/Foxwarren, Man.) split his week of action against the Jr. Blades (22-save shutout victory ) and the Tampa Bay Juniors (26 saves on 30 shots) to finish with a .923 save percentage and move his record to 4-2-0-0 since joining the Eels in January from the British Columbia Hockey League.
