Summaries by Joshua Boyd / USPHL.com
Southeast Division
Forward: Niko Schoner, Nashville Spartans
Schoner remains third in goal-scoring with 43 in the Premier, and five of those came in the last week – including two shorthanded goals in the same game, in back-to-back games! He also had the GWG in a 5-3 victory against the Columbia Infantry.
Defense: Kameron Williams, Richmond Generals
A General since 2019, Williams (‘02/Clarks Summit, Pa.) put up three assists as the Generals played to a split weekend with the Potomac Patriots and were able to clinch a Premier playoff berth. He had two assists in their 4-2 win, one on the 2-1 go-ahead goal and another on the eventual GWG. Williams has a four-game assist streak going with five assists over all of his January action.
Goaltender: Jack Nowicki, Hampton Roads Whalers
Nowicki put up 44 saves on 47 shots in 65 minutes against the No. 2 team in the league, the Charlotte Rush, and then stopped three of four shootout attempts in an eventual 4-3 win. This came two weeks after stopping 61 of 63 in a win against Potomac. Nowicki is 9-7 with a .908 save percentage for the Whalers this year.
Florida Division
Forward: Easton Moore, Florida Eels
Moore (02/Red Deer, Alb.) is enjoying a huge hot 10-game scoring streak here in January, posting 8-12-20 since Jan. 7, his second game of the month. Recently, Moore put up four goals and added one assist in wins against the Florida Jr. Blades and Tampa Bay Juniors as part of a 5-0 winning streak. Moore, who has 126 points in 119 Premier games, is also active with a five-game, six-goal streak.
Defense: Giovanni Grassi, Atlanta MadHatters
The MadHatters finished their weekend against the Palm Beach Typhoon with a 1-1-1 record, and a big reason for taking the three points was the play of Grassi. He had two goals and one assist over the series, all part of a greater six-game, nine-point scoring streak.
Goaltender: Tobias Bell, Florida Eels
Bell (‘03/Buffalo, N.Y.) stopped all 21 shots faced from the Tampa Bay Juniors on Jan. 20 for his ninth win and first USPHL Premier shutout. He is currently 4-1-0-0 for the month of January alone.
