Minnesota Mullets Unique In Featuring On-Campus Housing, Home Games At NCAA Universities

All Minnesota Mullets players are looking to make a big impression on NCAA, ACHA and AAU coaches while playing in the USPHL Premier.

It certainly helps that they are right there playing on NCAA ice when they start their home games at Augsburg University. Non-local players are also housed at the University of Minnesota, an NCAA Division I powerhouse essentially since its 1921 inception.

“Our players stay in student housing on the campus of the University of Minnesota and play out of Augsburg University’s arena,” added Mullets owner, general manager and head coach Chris Walby.

“Both college programs were in the top five in the NCAA last season, which makes for a special experience in itself. Minneapolis is an incredible city where both campuses connect. Our players can walk to the rink from their apartments as well as all Gopher, Viking, Twins and Timberwolves sporting events.”

“We offer a very unique and an incredible experience here that has taken some time to develop, but a project well worth it,” added Walby.

Part of the University of Minnesota’s housing offerings is the GrandMarc Seven apartment building, which includes units of four bedrooms and two baths. The amenities are many, including study rooms with computers and printers, a gym, a game room, outdoor patio with grills, underground parking and free WiFi.

Los Campeones Gym Northeast in Minneapolis also has been appointed as the dry-land training facility for the Mullets here in 2023-24.

“Los Campeones Northeast is amazing. This once was the backdrop for “Million Dollar Baby” boxing scenes now converted into a massive 15,000-square foot gym with everything you need,” said Walby.

The team also works with team sponsor The Corner Bar, a short walk from the GrandMarc Seven, “feeds the team pasta dinner once a week and sponsors jerseys, pre-game and post-game events and is next door to the student housing.”
