Vernal Oilers Forward, Single Season Point Record-Setter Bartakovics Signs With HK Nitra Pro Team In Slovakia

The Vernal Oilers are thrilled to announce that USPHL record-setting forward Alex Rene Bartakovics has signed a professional contract with HK Nitra in the Slovakian Extraliga for the 2023-24 season!

The 2004-born forward recorded a jaw-dropping 121 points in 40 games played during the 2022-23 season, setting the single season point record at the USPHL Premier level, and earning a Northwest Division All-Star selection in the process.

“I’m excited to see Alex get a professional opportunity,” said head coach Mike Gennello. “Alex is a true professional in his approach to his own personal development, and that extra work paid off for him last season. We look forward to seeing him develop at the professional level in the coming seasons.”

HK Nitra competes in the Tipos Extraliga, the highest level of competition within Slovakia. HK Nitra is known as top developer of young Slovakian talent, producing several top NHL draft picks in recent years, while winning an Extraliga championship in 2016 and an IIHF Continental Cup in 2023.
