USPHL Advancement in Action: Hershey’s Noah Pfab Called Up To Mercer Chiefs NCDC Team

At the conclusion of last week, Hershey Cubs Premier goaltender Noah Pfab officially received a call-up to play for the Mercer Chiefs in the National Collegiate Development Conference. Rob Broderick, head coach of the Mercer Chiefs, had consistently expressed interest in acquiring Pfab. After numerous conversations between both organizations, Pfab agreed to terms that will officially make him a Mercer Chief.

“Noah set a high standard for goalies within the Hershey Cubs organization,” says Crystal Boudreau, Hershey Cubs managing partner. “His performance on the ice was excellent, and off the ice, he was a true team player. He formed a close bond with Eric West and Luke Schaub, training, working, and volunteering together. It’s rare to see three goalies support each other like they did. Noah’s attitude, work ethic and dedication to his dream will be missed.”

During his time in Hershey, Pfab has earned three Player of the Week awards, a Player of the Month honor and was invited to play for the German U17 National Team in Switzerland. Most recently, Pfab was also the first ever Hershey Cub selected to participate in the 2025 USPHL All-Star games.

“Since arriving in Hershey, Noah has been a steady presence in goal for us,” says Padraig Carey, Hershey Cubs goaltending coach. “He continuously elevated his game on the ice, but off the ice, he truly came out of his shell. When he first arrived, he was shy—understandably so, being away from home in a new country. As his personality started to shine through, I knew he was going to be a great fit.”

Pfab ranked fifth as a first-year North American goaltender. Additionally, Pfab recorded a .941 save percentage to cap off the 2024 calendar year. Most notably, Pfab ranked fifth league-wide in the save percentage category and posted an impressive overall record of 9-5-1-1.

“Noah plays an athletic style that is successful in today’s game and will set him up for success at the higher levels,” says Carey. “He is a strong skater, beating passes on his feet as much as possible, with active hands controlling rebounds. He reads the play so well and is patient with the shooter and has a calming presence in the net.”

In 38 games, the Mercer Chiefs have accumulated 49 points, securing second place in the Atlantic Division. The addition of Pfab aims to strengthen Mercer’s goaltending rotation.

“Mercer can expect a goalie who competes for every puck and gives the Chiefs a chance to win every time he’s in net,” says Carey. “Adding Noah provides Mercer with a strong one-two punch in goal. Dominick Gatto has had an impressive season, and with Noah joining the team, Mercer just got even stronger. No matter who is in net, opponents will have to earn their goals.”

It is the intention of every USPHL franchise to promote their players, and while Pfab will be missed in chocolatetown, the organization is excited to see Pfab get one step closer to achieving his dreams.
