USPHL Premier Canada Division Players Of The Month: January 2025

Forwards: 

Tristan Reid, Somang L-L Hockey

Reid (‘04/Grand-Remous, Que.) registered a line of five goals and nine assists for 14 points in just six games to help them to a 4-2-0-0 mark during the month. Reid is in his fourth junior season and second in the USPHL Premier. He has 46 points this season and 65 points overall in 70 career Premier games. 

 

Wilhem Lajeunesse, Somang L-L Hockey 

Lajeunesse (‘04/Mont-Laurier, Que.) racked up a 5-5-10 line for Somang in just five games last month. Lajeunesse joined Somang in December and already has 16 points in his first nine games. 

 

Felix Belanger, Universel Sherbrooke 

Belanger (‘07/Drummondville, Que.) put up a strong six goals and nine assists for 15 points during January. He pushed his season points per game to over 1.00 with 40 points in 39 games. 

 

Honorable Mention: Elrik Boule, Somang L-L Hockey 

 

Defense:

Elyo Nassar, College Universel Gatineau

Nassar (‘05/Val-des-Monts, Que.) was a top contributor for his team from the blue line, adding 2-4-6 in seven games to their offensive mix. This accounted for half of his 12 points for the season, his second with the Universel organization. 

 

Benjamin Lacoste, Hawkesbury Knights

Lacoste (‘08/St-Julie, Que.) picked up two goals and two assists for four points in the Knights’ six games of January. He continues to improve as a first-year junior and prospect for higher levels in his promising future. 

 

Honorable Mention: Chris Skotidakis, Somang L-L Hockey 

 

Goaltender: 

George Foti, Hawkesbury Knights

Foti (‘06/Laval, Que.) was a newcomer for the Knights during the month of January and made a quick impression. In his three starts, he won each and finished the month with a 35-save shutout against a strong Springfield Pics team at the Northern Cyclones Showcase. He stopped 89 of the 95 shots he faced in the month for a .937 save percentage and he held a 1.99 GAA as the calendar flipped to February. 

 

Honorable Mention: Marcus Gomes, College Universel Gatineau

 

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
