USPHL Premier Players Of The Week: South Region

Florida Division

Forward: Aleksis Ostankovics, Tampa Bay Juniors

Brand newly arrived in North America from his native Latvia, the ‘03 had a fantastic debut weekend with a goal and two assists for the Tampa Bay Juniors. 

 

Defense: Ryan Coots, Columbia Infantry 

Infantry from birth practically, Coots is an ‘05 born on base at Fort Bragg, N.C. This past weekend, he posted two goals, including the regulation game-winner in a 5-4 win over the Tampa Bay Juniors. He led the Infantry in ice time for both games against Tampa, finishing with 45:20 over the weekend along with two blocked shots. 

 

Goaltender: Brian Brady, Columbia Infantry

A fifth-year USPHL veteran, Brady is a second-year Premier player who just recently joined the Infantry for his first game after being acquired from the Charlotte Rush (whose Elite team he led to the National Championship in 2021). In that Infantry debut, he put up 33 saves on 36 shots for a .917 save percentage in a 5-3 win over Tampa. 

 

Southeast Division

Forward: Garrett McCabe, Richmond Generals

McCabe (‘03/London, Ont.) is off to a fantastic start with 14 points in eight games this year after a strong 37-point campaign last year. In helping the Generals go 4-0 at the Rockets Hockey Club Showcase in New Jersey by putting up four goals and four assists for eight points at the showcase. McCabe has not missed the scoresheet yet this season. 

 

Defense: Peter Keese, Charlotte Rush

The fourth-year Premier veteran Keese (‘03/Minnetonka, Minn.) posted three assists over the weekend as the Rush earned three points in a split weekend against Carolina, which saw them win and take a shutout loss. 

 

Goaltender: Lenny Perno, Richmond Generals

Perno (‘02/Rochester, N.Y.) posted two shutouts at the Rockets Hockey Club Showcase, making 44 saves between the two blankings as the Generals tore through the showcase with a 4-0 record, giving up just three total goals (all in one game). Jadon Lee had the other shutout on the weekend.
